South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation (SYCF) is a charitable organisation with the goal to ‘improve the lives of the people of South Yorkshire’. A simple statement, but a massive task. SYCF this year celebrates 30 years of community giving in the South Yorkshire area.

SYCF was originally set up in 1986 and one of the founding Trustees was the Earl of Scarborough. The current Earl and Countess of Scarborough therefore hosted an event at their beautiful Sandbeck estate to mark the 30 year anniversary. The aim of the evening was to raise awareness of the marvellous work carried out by SYCF to enable and support local giving from those who want to invest in the local communities they call home, and to create a stronger South Yorkshire.

Steven Dawson, who is also a member of the Professional Advisors Panel for SYCF, said:
“It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of these 30th anniversary celebrations and to visit the Earl and Countesses home. Everyone was so grateful for their incredible hospitality. I am really proud to be involved with South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation and to see the great work they carry out in local communities in South Yorkshire. I would encourage any of our clients who may be interested in making gifts that will make a difference to individuals and organisations at a very local level to contact SYCF to find out more about the assistance they can give. Similarly any other solicitors, accountants or financial advisors who may have clients considering charitable giving should contact SYCF to discuss the numerous ways they can help”.

Maria Stuchbury, Philanthropy Manager at SYCF said:
“We were delighted that so many talented local professional advisors chose to join us to celebrate the 30th anniversary and to celebrate the launch of our new match funding initiative the Liz & Terry Bramall Foundation Philanthropy Catalyst Endowment Match Challenge. We are incredibly proud of the work we do at SYCF and would be delighted to hear from anyone who may wish to find out more about how SYCF could help you or your clients to be inspired to be philanthropic for the good of the South Yorkshire area”
