Karen is a Solicitor, Family Mediator and Collaborative Lawyer. Her career began in 1996 in the West Yorkshire area. She qualified as a Solicitor in 1998. She has practiced in South Yorkshire since 1999 specialising exclusively in Family, Children and Divorce Work, thus gaining significant experience in her field. She became a Partner with MKB Solicitors LLP in 2003.
Karen specialises in Divorce and Financial Settlements (formerly termed Ancillary Relief), Civil Partnership Dissolution, Domestic Abuse, Injunctions and all Children disputes/issues.
Karen is highly skilled and trained in her practice and representation. She has experience in appearing before the Court of Appeal, the High Court, the County Court and the Magistrates Court. She has handled a number of International child abduction cases.
She has Resolution Specialist Accreditation in Advance Financial Provision, Children Law Private and Domestic Abuse. She became a Resolution Collaborative Family Lawyer in 2006 and an all issues Resolution Family Mediator in 2011.
Karen regularly receives clients who have been referred to her from Pathways, Barnsley's Domestic Abuse and Counselling Advice and Support Service
As part of her Resolution Collaborative Family Practice Karen has many quality lawyer, life coach, therapist and financial consultant connections. Her sister is a rape/domestic abuse/eating disorder therapist. She is willing to travel to Collaborate throughout South and West Yorkshire, regularly meeting in Sheffield, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Rotherham and Doncaster areas. She also hosts Collaborative meetings in our on site meeting rooms. The practice is aided by having ample on site free parking.
Karen brings solid and sound advice, support and empathy to her clients, whilst encouraging a pragmatic and cost effective approach. She is committed to facilitating creative solutions and promoting respect between disputing parties throughout the dispute resolution process chosen.
